Cloud Managed Networks are the unsung hero of many businesses, offering more than what the eye can see. It’s for that reason that the next episode of Switched On Thinking explores what Cloud Managed Networks can offer SMBs and why, for end users and customers, they’re becoming increasingly important.
In Episode 6 of the Switched On Thinking Podcast, host Neil C Hughes is joined by NETGEAR’s Director of Product Line Management for Insight and Services, Shaheen Kazi, and Regional Director of NETGEAR Benelux, Arend Karssies. They discuss:
- How the pandemic has brought certain issues to the forefront, and the solutions that are required
- The opportunities and benefits VARs can bring to SMBs
- What having a Cloud Managed Network means for the end user
- The myths and fears surrounding Cloud Management
- And NETGEAR’s role in the future of Cloud services and its evolution
The Expectation of the End-User
“we’ve seen a significant growth in the networking needs for small businesses … The expectation of the end consumer is that when they walk in, if they are asked to wait, there should be free WiFi provided by that business. So right away there is a need for small businesses to extend their wireless network to provide guest WiFi.”
On the show, Arend also shares an example of how Cloud Management is allowing a VAR to assist a school during the age of COVID-19 by enabling office management from home, e-learning practices, and general preparation for the times ahead.
“When the pandemic came,” he says, “he was immediately able to start managing the offices at home, from the teachers who provided e-learning to the students. Because he was ready with remote-management capability, he fully embraced it.”
Are we ever going to go back to the way things were?
The pandemic has changed how we live, work, and play, but what does the future bring? This episode of the show covers the reality of the situation in great depth and highlights how Cloud Managed Networks can help us find solutions.
“Are we ever going to go back to the way things were?” Shaheen asks. “In general, the thesis is that we will not be having that kind of clean-cut binary system again…there will be a hybrid model where we will work and attend school from home.”
